Living a Purposeful Life
Social media has been playing greater role in this informational day and age. It cut both ways which would give us mixed blessing based on our usage of it. By and Large, youngsters this days calculate their self-worth based on the number of likes that they get in the Facebook. This is the days we are living in.We have to be very careful that we are much more than those carefully calculated figure displayed in the social media. Aren’t we? It is when we/you disregard the opinions of other people that is when you discover what is really inside you. The true calling of your life.Infact, the true worthiness and authencity is what the world really needs. The greatest mind of these century starting from Mahatma Gandhi to Nelson Mandela who have made all the difference in their life are the one who have follow their inner voice.
Everyone have their true inner voice that reminds ourselves about the journey we must undertake but hardly nobody listens to it. No parents, friends, teacher and preacher can tell you what your path should be and what you are worthy of. “Inner voice” the voice that whispers within you knows better than anyone about your worth. We must remind our self of what once Socrates said “Unexamined life is not worth Living”. For that to achieve we must set our priorities first coz human beings achieve result based on our priorities. If we change our priorities it will change the outcome. For Instance, A young mother who have just given birth, is caring and looking after the infant, would you agree that her number one priorities will be her baby? She can kill herself to save her baby.Similary, we achieve result based on our priorities. So in order for us find new direction of where we want to go, first we must set our priorities well.
Most of the people live a life through the opinions of other and fail to live a life that is true to our self. Somebody rightly said, “We are all gifted but some people never open their package” and constantly comparing with other people’s life. We must understand that comparison is the thief of joy. For Instance, Just imagine that you won a lottery worth of 5 lakh and just draw the expression of happiness you may display. However, at the very next moment, if you heard that the person you hate the most have won 50 lakh. Your feeling of joy will disappear within a second just even if u haven’t lost a penny from your pocket. In this case, you must rather be happy with the 5 lakh and be thankful of it.Your gift is so special irrespective of amount and size. We must stop comparing with others and be true to our self because comparison is the thief of joy. So my friends, there are so many things on your plates that demands immediate attention that you couldn’t possibly have in for anything else. Chencho Gyeltshen a professional football star who is known by his household name “Bhutanese Ronaldo” can be a living proof of what we called purposeful life.. His decision to be professional football player is not at all what his parents wanted out of him. He followed his true inner calling of his life despite all those naysayers and criticism. Eventually he proved that his vision was far more than our eyesight and earned “CG7” as his Trademark. J.K Rowling, the author of Harry Potter said it rightly “The quality of life depends upon the quality of choice we make”. She was never shoe in for success when she started writing books.Infact she was on the verge of poverty, depression and it had added pain to her injury when her book was rejected by as many as 13 publisher. Later she became one of the highest paid author in the world.
Following are the list of handbrakes that stops us from achieving our/your goals.
1. Lizard mind:
We as a human being have the tendency to feel that if somebody achieves greatness in their life. It may be coz they are born gifted. We all are gifted and it is our effort that different us. If put our efforts into the right direction over extended period of time. Success is not going to be alien to us too.
2. Victim Mindset & Lack of self-worth
Too many people are not living up to their highest potential because they feel that are not worthy enough. If we live life in quiet desperation with those negative and defeated mindset it would be done even before it get started. Therefore, we must think that we are good enough just the way we are.
3. Opinions of other people
Most of the people are afraid to charge of their life. They end up following what others peoples have already done and what people usually do. We must follow our gut instead of following the group.
Therefore, it is never too old to start for World Oldest Marathon runner Fauja Singh started running at the age of 82 and had beaten numbers of world record. It is never too young to make the difference for Malala Yousafzai received Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17 for fighting against the right of all children to education and against the suppression of children.
Lastly, it is our choice whether we/you want to be player or spectator in the game of life. Making mistake is not wrong but making same mistake time and again is the choice. If not corrected it may become part of our habit. We must not be discouraged for not achieving the result. If the purpose is right. It is often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock. To put in nutshell, “Living a life that is true to yourself and not what others wanted from you is be-all and end-all of life “
